Anna tried the balance beam again last night. At first I put it on the floor by itself and tried to walk her across it while holding her hands. That was a bit awkward so I held onto one hand while we walked sideways across it. Then I just modeled what I wanted her to do on it and put the balance beam between the parallel bars (the contraption) so she could play with it on her own. She played while I finished dinner and did very well. She looked like a little ballerina as she picked up one leg and leaned forward as if she was doing a baby aerobesque! Too bad we didn't have the camera going - we'll have to try again tonight.
Anna truly amazes me every time we make something new for her. She is always up for a challenge and curious about the new toy that her parents are so excited about. She rarely disappoints when it comes to something new. I can't wait to see how she progresses with the balance beam. If it's anything like the contraption, it will be something to watch and a wonderful therapy tool to boot!
